We had a great turnout for our Fur-Ever Home for the Holidays party at beautiful Sacred Sands B&B
in Joshua Tree on December 6, 2015. Everyone had a good time,
and we raised just over $4,000 for the Shelter.

Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser 2013

June 8, 2013
We had a great time at our first spaghetti dinner at the Yucca Mesa Improvement Association’s center. The excellent spaghetti sauce was made from scratch by Chef Dana Collins and Paula Finefrock. We estimate that we served over 200 dinners.

The raffle was organized by our vice-president Lesley Mahany who did a wonderful job finding beautiful items.

We would like to thank all the artists that donated items as well as the community who came out to make this a very successful evening.

Rattlesnake Aversion Training and Fundraiser

May 11, 2013 -
Fifty-seven dogs are a lot wiser about the perils of playing with rattlesnakes thanks to the kind but firm training they received from Natural Solutions.
Eric and his staff also informed owners about snakes local to their homes and answered questions and debunked myths about rattlesnakes. It was a long, informative, and profitable day for Morongo Basin Humane Society volunteers who worked the event. Natural Solution donated back 1/3 of their day’s profit to the Joshua Tree No-Kill Animal Shelter for which we are very grateful. This is an annual event for us, so be on the lookout next spring for our next training.

Volunteer Day 2013

April 26, 2013 -
Thank you to all of the volunteers who made  Volunteer Day a success; showing their love, caring and involvement.

As you look at the pictures of Volunteer Day, it is difficult to tell who is having more fun the dogs or the walkers.
All of the dogs at the shelter were favored with a leisurely walk or if a lizard was spotted, a quick sprint. Most contented were the cats who were the recipients of frisky playtime and lots of dozing in a loving lap.
Volunteers from Starbucks and the community joined together to make the MBHS No Kill shelter a cleaner and more comfortable place to live. A total of 44 hours was achieved on this day.
Loud scraping was heard along with the barks of the dogs as the flaking paint was removed from the kennel walls.  Soon it was replaced with bright white paint.  Doors also received a tender loving paint brush and the area was soon sparkling. Screen doors were installed to provide ventilation and to deter the fly population.  The office was buzzing with computer experts who were updating files and the Web Site.
Volunteers hailed from 29 Palms to Yucca Valley.  All the rescued animals say, “Thank You”, to Janie Billings and Tammy Hereford from Starbucks Co and Linda Cambon, Katie Van Sumeren, Marty and Steve Lomax, Madison and Michelle Gall, Martha Mitchell, Sue Lawrence, Dave Eckenberg, Doris Lawless and screen man, Bill.
Come visit our happy pets and see the improvements.  Our family can always use Dog Walkers, Cat Fanciers, and donations!  As you look at the pictures of Volunteer Day, it is difficult to tell who is having more fun the dogs or the walkers.
