Yes, we can!
Build a new shelter,
that is.

And, yes, it takes a village....
The results of a survey conducted in the Spring of 2021 seeking guidance from the community revealed overwhelming support for building a new no-kill animal shelter to replace the worn and aging facility in Joshua Tree.

Currently, plans for a new shelter are moving through the maze of development phases, studies and permits. A feasibility study was undertaken in the weeks following the survey results to determine if building a new shelter is economically viable and also if MBHS directors and volunteers can organize and fundraise to reach that goal.

To that end, the survey results supported the feasibility of the project. Many respondents in the survey voiced support for keeping a no-kill shelter in the area and offered to pledge financial support, a variety of skill sets and fundraising skills as well as suggestions, opinions, and all out-support.

Here's a copy of a brochure of the current status: We got it going on!
